“If you allow yourself to breathe into the
Depth, Wonder, Beauty, Craziness and Strife
Everything that represents the fullness of your life
You can live fearlessly
Because you come to realize that if you just keep breathing
You cannot be conquered”

Oprah Gail Winfrey, Media Mogul, Billionaire, Producer, Talk Show Host, Actress, Publisher, Philanthropist, was born in Mississippi in 1954 to an unwed teenage mother living in poverty and living in Milwaukee with family.
“She experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, saying she was raped at age nine and became pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy. Sent to live with the man she calls her father, a barber in Tennessee, Winfrey landed a job in radio while still in high school and began co-anchoring the local evening news at the age of 19. ……..
“In 1976, Oprah Winfrey moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she hosted the TV chat show People Are Talking. The show became a hit and Winfrey stayed with it for eight years, after which she was recruited by a Chicago TV station to host her own morning show, A.M. Chicago. Her major competitor in the time slot was Phil Donahue. Within several months, Winfrey’s open, warm-hearted personal style had won her 100,000 more viewers than Donahue and had taken her show from last place to first in the ratings. Her success led to nationwide fame and a role in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 filmThe Color Purple, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.”
The Oprah Winfrey show began in 1986 and ran to exceptionally large audiences until 2011. It was also the impetus to the careers of others who appeared on the show, such as Dr Phil, Dr Mehmet Oz, Nate Berkus, Designer, Bob Green, Trainer, Gayle King who has also become a close long time friend. Lauded for connecting with her audience, Oprah structured her show with celebrity interviews, confessionals, self-help/self development topics, and some very extensive and expensive giveaways to the audiences in later programs.
Winfrey launched the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1986 as a nationally syndicated program. With its placement on 120 channels and an audience of 10 million people, the show grossed $125 million by the end of its first year, of which Winfrey received $30 million. She soon gained ownership of the program from ABC, drawing it under the control of her new production company, Harpo Productions (‘Oprah’ spelled backwards) and making more and more money from syndication.

Credited with creating a more intimate confessional form of media communication, she is thought to have popularized and revolutionizedthe tabloid talk show genre pioneered by Phil Donahue, which a Yale study says broke 20th-century taboos and allowed LGBT people to enter the mainstream. By the mid-1990s, she had reinvented her show with a focus on literature, self-improvement, and spirituality. “
